The IT sector consumes a lot of energy. So much even day, should it be a country, it would be the 3rd largest consumer of electricity, after China and the US.

Often with fossil fuels

Most data centres do not run on green electricity. That creates massive CO₂ emissions.

4% of all CO₂ emissions

By 2024, 4% of global CO₂ emissions would come from the IT sector. By 2040, this could even reach 14%.

Emissions must go down

To meet the goals of the Paris climate agreement, emissions need to fall by 45% over the next 10 years.

This is how we take the lead for a greener IT sector

4 times fewer emissions than our competitors

In 2022, our group reached 6.38 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per 1 million sales. While other large hosters achieved 43 tonnes per 1 million turnover. Talk about a huge difference.

But we want even less

Our CO₂-impact needs to come down further. That is why we have set ambitious science-based targets for the next six years.

Outcome: -29% CO₂ by 2023

Despite our +12% growth, we managed to reduce our CO₂ emissions by 29%.

These are targets that show companies how much they need to reduce their emissions to avoid the worst effects of climate change.

Concrete actions for less CO₂

Green data centres
All our data centres run on green, renewable electricity.
Electric fleet
Our fleet is becoming fully electric. By 2024, 25% of cars will already be electric.
Digital Clean-up
Every year, we delete our unused documents in the cloud. Accounting for 64,832 GB or 15,699 tonnes of CO₂ reduction.
Recycling hardware
Old servers are recycled or refurbished. In Belgium alone, this was 92 servers by 2023.
Home work policy
To reduce commuting, employees need not be in the office every day.
Bicycle leasing
Replacing the car with a bicycle also helps, of course. That is why we offer bike leasing to our employees.
Green suppliers
We only choose suppliers that have science-based targets for a sustainable future.
Green offices
We save energy in the office by e.g. providing LED lighting and opting for green electricity.

We invest in climate projects worldwide

Offsetting CO₂

Because eliminating all CO₂ emissions is impossible (yet), we invest in sustainable climate projects that prevent or help break down CO₂ emissions.

Cooperation with Ecologi

To set up global projects around CO₂ reduction and biodiversity enhancement, we partner with Ecologi.

Planting trees in Belgium

In collaboration with GoForest, we are reforesting a piece of land in March-en-Famenne with 1363 new trees.
