Most secure web stores honoured at the 2021 SafeShops Awards

Security on the Internet and healthy entrepreneurship are two of Combell's main concerns. This is why we are proud of our partnership with SafeShops, Belgium's leading authority in secure web stores. We therefore felt absolutely thrilled when, on 7 October, we were invited to attend the 2021 SafeShops Awards, which were held in Antwerp Zoo.

Every year, the Safeshops Awards honour the web stores that contribute in their own way to the success of e-commerce in Belgium.

Whether it was the most reliable, the most customer-friendly or the best designed web store, each winner deserved a big thumbs up. Here is a brief report!

Customer is not only king, but also member of the judging panel

The SafeShops Awards are not handed out to the winners by chance: almost 4,000 online consumers were asked to give their unbiased opinion, which allowed to select 15 winners.

The most prestigious award of the evening was probably the SafeShops.be Diamond Award: the award for web stores that achieved the best performance in all categories. Congratulations to Studio Gaston, BAUNAT and Coolblue!

SafeShops also honoured three web stores (small, medium and large) per category for their outstanding work.

The categories were as follows: Logistic Champion (for reliable deliveries and aftersales service for damaged goods), Customer Friendliness (for the best customer service), Payment Hero (for the most user-friendly payment methods, among other things) and Brilliant Concept (for the best designed web store, among other things).

Web Celeb Award: the e-commerce personality of the year

This year, SafeShops also introduced a Web Celeb Award, which was presented to the person who most meritoriously contributed to the success of web stores in Belgium.

And the winner of the 2021 Web Celeb award, who was chosen by a panel of experts and a public vote, is Cis Scherpereel. As an e-commerce consultant and inspirer for companies such as Hubo, Fun or Jules Destrooper, he has been key to the success of Belgian e-commerce for years.

Every year, SafeShops chooses a central theme for the SafeShops Awards. But this year, given the location, the organisation did not have to think too long about it: it was a jungle night at Antwerp Zoo!

In other words, quite a few tigers have been spotted 😉. Especially at the Combell photo booth!
