Buy a wildcard SSL certificate

Secure your domain with a wildcard SSL certificate

A wildcard SSL certificate allows you to secure your domain name, as well as all subdomains. As a result, your entire website can be served over an HTTPS connection and a small padlock is displayed in the browser.

A wildcard SSL certificate secures your entire website

For your domain name, as well as all subdomains

A wildcard SSL certificate is valid for your domain name (e.g. combell.com) as well as for all subdomains (e.g. my.combell.com, store.combell.com).

Secure HTTPS connection

A wildcard SSL certificate encrypts all communication with browsers. Your website uses HTTPS (with the 'S' standing for security) everywhere.

Leave hackers with no chance

Thanks to the HTTPS connection, hackers are left with no chance of stealing sensitive data such as login or payment details.

A wildcard SSL certificate allows you to build trust with your visitors

No marking as "not secure"

No SSL certificate? In that case, browsers will mark your website as "not secure".

Padlock in browsers = more trust

If you have a wildcard SSL certificate, your website displays a small padlock everywhere to show that you are using HTTPS. This helps build more trust with your visitors.

Required by the GDPR

You are GDPR proof. For that matter, HTTPS is mandatory when sending personal data.

A wildcard SSL certificate allows you to protect all your subdomains

Frequently asked questions about wildcard SSL certificates

Choosing the right wildcard SSL certificate depends on your situation. Roughly speaking, you have two options.

  1. Either you are a private individual and mainly want a secure website. In that case, all you need is a Standard wildcard SSL certificate
  2. Are you a company or do you carry out commercial activities? Then you should go for a Premium wildcard SSL. Your company details will then be included in your wildcard SSL certificate. This allows visitors to find out which company is behind the website, which will help build more trust and boost your sales.

  3. Both SSL certificates are valid for your domain name, as well as for all subdomains. That is the big advantage of a wildcard SSL certificate.

    Order a wildcard SSL certificate

Let's Encrypt's free SSL certificates have some shortcomings compared to paid ones.

A free SSL certificate is no wildcard SSL certificate. So it is never valid for all your subdomains. If you have many subdomains, you need to get a paid wildcard SSL certificate.

Let's Encrypt's certificates also do not offer extended validation.

Company details are therefore not integrated, which means your visitors will trust you less. And less trust equals less sales.

So for web stores, we strongly advise you to get a paid SSL certificate.

A free SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt is only suitable for a website. For file servers, apps, e-mail and the like, you need a paid SSL certificate.

With a free SSL certificate, you also cannot add the Sectigo trust seal to your website or web store. By adding this label, your visitors will trust you more.

If you use a free SSL certificate, you also do not receive compensation in case of abuse.
A wildcard SSL certificate is recommended if you use many subdomains on your website or web store. For example, on our website we use www.combell.com, my.combell.com, store.combell.com, etc. With a single wildcard SSL certificate, all those subdomains are protected. Otherwise, you would have to get several SSL certificates to protect all those subdomains. And every time you add a new subdomain, you would have to request a new SSL certificate. It is thus cheaper to get a wildcard SSL certificate right away. That way, you will be immediately ready for any future extension to your website.
